Red Panama Passionfruit Seeds (Dried)
Grow one of the most popular tropical passionfruit varieties from seed. Red Panama Passionfruit is a vigorous climbing vine that produces large, sweet red-skinned fruit with aromatic orange pulp and spectacular flowers. These dried seeds are ideal for growers wanting to raise this productive and rewarding vine from seed.
Seed Type: Dried Red Panama Passionfruit (Passiflora edulis f. flavicarpa × Passiflora edulis) seeds.
Origin: Tropical South America.
Growth Habit: Vigorous evergreen climbing vine reaching 5–10 metres with support. Perfect for trellises, pergolas, fences and arbours.
Climate: Thrives in warm, frost-free or subtropical climates. Can tolerate light frosts once established but grows best in warm, sheltered positions with plenty of sunlight.
Germination: Soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours before sowing 5–10 mm deep in a free-draining seed-raising mix. Keep warm (20–28°C) and consistently moist. Germination typically takes 2–8 weeks, although some seeds may take longer.
Fruit: Produces large, round to oval red-purple fruit with juicy orange pulp. The flavour is exceptionally sweet, rich and aromatic, making it ideal for eating fresh, desserts, drinks and juices.
Flowers: Large, striking white and purple passionflowers that attract bees and other beneficial pollinators.
Fruiting: Typically begins producing fruit within 1–3 years from seed under good growing conditions.
Care: Prefers full sun, fertile free-draining soil, regular watering and a sturdy climbing structure. Feed regularly during the growing season to encourage vigorous growth and heavy crops.
