Red Panama Passionfruit Seeds (Dried)

Grow one of the most popular tropical passionfruit varieties from seed. Red Panama Passionfruit is a vigorous climbing vine that produces large, sweet red-skinned fruit with aromatic orange pulp and spectacular flowers. These dried seeds are ideal for growers wanting to raise this productive and rewarding vine from seed.

Seed Quantity: 1 seed
This is a rare species in NZ and difficult to source. We carefully source quality seeds from trusted growers here and around the world, often importing small quantities that are not readily available locally.
Seed Type:
Dried Red Panama Passionfruit

Origin: Tropical South America.

Growth Habit: Vigorous evergreen climbing vine reaching 5–10 metres with support. Perfect for trellises, pergolas, fences and arbours.

Climate: Thrives in warm, frost-free or subtropical climates. Can tolerate light frosts once established but grows best in warm, sheltered positions with plenty of sunlight.

Germination: Soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours before sowing 5–10 mm deep in a free-draining seed-raising mix. Keep warm (20–28°C) and consistently moist. Germination typically takes 2–8 weeks, although some seeds may take longer.

Climate: Red Panama passionfruit grows well in the warmer North Island. In the South Island, grow it against a sunny north-facing wall or in a greenhouse for the best results.

Fruit: Produces large, round to oval red-purple fruit with juicy orange pulp. The flavour is exceptionally sweet, rich and aromatic, making it ideal for eating fresh, desserts, drinks and juices.

Flowers: Large, striking white and purple passionflowers that attract bees and other beneficial pollinators.

Fruiting: Typically begins producing fruit within 1–3 years from seed under good growing conditions.

Care: Prefers full sun, fertile free-draining soil, regular watering and a sturdy climbing structure. Feed regularly during the growing season to encourage vigorous growth and heavy crops.
