Grow a delicious tropical fruit tree from seed. Red Fijian Papaya is a fast-growing, highly productive variety that produces sweet, vibrant red-orange flesh with a rich tropical flavour. These fresh seeds are ideal for growers wanting to raise this rewarding fruit tree from seed.
Seed Type: Fresh Red Fijian Papaya seeds.
Origin: Fiji.
Growth Habit: Fast-growing tropical fruiting plant reaching approximately 2–5 metres at maturity. Ideal for home gardens, orchards and large containers while young.
Climate: Thrives in warm, frost-free, subtropical and tropical climates. Prefers full sun, well-drained soil and protection from frost and strong winds.
Germination: Sow fresh seeds 5–10 mm deep in a free-draining seed-raising mix. Keep warm (25–30°C) and consistently moist but not waterlogged. Germination typically occurs within 2–6 weeks.
Fruit: Produces medium to large fruit with smooth yellow-green skin that ripens to golden-yellow. The flesh is deep red-orange, exceptionally sweet, juicy and aromatic, making it perfect for eating fresh, smoothies, fruit salads and desserts.
Flowers: Produces creamy white fragrant flowers. Depending on the plant, flowers may be male, female or hermaphrodite.
Fruiting: Typically begins producing fruit within 9–18 months from seed under good growing conditions.
Care: Prefers full sun, fertile free-draining soil and regular watering. Feed regularly during the growing season to encourage rapid growth and heavy fruit production.
