Vanilla Passionfruit Plant – 5 Months Old
A fast-growing tropical climbing vine producing beautiful ornamental flowers and delicious banana-shaped fruit with a sweet, aromatic flavour. At approximately 5 months old, these healthy plants are well established and ready to continue climbing once planted into their permanent position.
Plant Age: Approximately 5 months old, grown from seed.
Origin: Northern South America.
Growth Habit: Vigorous evergreen climbing vine reaching 6–10 metres with support. Perfect for trellises, pergolas, fences and arbours.
Climate: Thrives in warm, frost-free or subtropical climates. Protect young plants from frost. Can also be grown in a greenhouse or conservatory in cooler regions.
Fruit: Produces unique banana-shaped golden-yellow fruit with soft orange pulp. The flavour is sweet, tropical and often described as a blend of passionfruit, melon and vanilla.
Flowers: Large, stunning pink and white tropical flowers that attract bees and other pollinators.
Fruiting: Typically begins producing fruit within 2–4 years from seed under good growing conditions.
Care: Prefers full sun, fertile free-draining soil, regular watering and a sturdy climbing structure.
