Quantity: 1 Seed
Rare: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a rare species in NZ and difficult to source. We carefully source quality seeds from trusted growers here and around the world, often importing small quantities that are not readily available locally.

Seed Type: Fresh Dwarf Pomegranate seeds.

Origin: Middle East and Central Asia.

Growth Habit: Compact deciduous shrub or small tree reaching approximately 1–2 metres at maturity. Excellent for gardens, pots and bonsai.

Germination: Soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours before sowing 5–10 mm deep in a free-draining seed-raising mix. Keep warm (20–25°C) and consistently moist. Germination usually occurs within 2–6 weeks.

Climate: To get a head start, or if you are in colder climates, start growing your seeds indoors so they are well established before summer. In the North Island, Dwarf Pomegranate grows well outdoors in full sun. In the South Island, choose a warm sheltered position or grow in a container that can be protected from severe frosts.

Fruit: Produces attractive miniature pomegranates with edible ruby-red seeds and a sweet-tart flavour.

Flowers: Produces masses of brilliant orange-red flowers throughout the warmer months that attract bees.

Fruiting: Typically begins producing fruit within 2–4 years from seed.

Care: Prefers full sun, fertile well-drained soil and moderate watering. Once established it is relatively drought tolerant.
