Fresh)
Grow one of the world's most fascinating fruit trees from seed. Jaboticaba is a slow-growing evergreen tree famous for producing sweet, grape-like fruit directly on its trunk and branches. These fresh seeds are ideal for growers wanting to raise this unique and highly prized fruit tree from seed.
Seed Type: Fresh Jaboticaba seeds.
Origin: Brazil.
Growth Habit: Slow-growing evergreen tree reaching approximately 3–10 metres at maturity, depending on the variety. Ideal for home gardens, orchards and large containers when young.
Climate: Thrives in warm temperate, subtropical and tropical climates. Prefers protection from severe frosts while young and grows best in warm, humid conditions.
Germination: Sow fresh seeds 10–15 mm deep in a free-draining seed-raising mix. Keep warm (20–28°C) and consistently moist but not waterlogged. Fresh seeds typically germinate within 2–8 weeks.
Fruit: Produces round, dark purple to black fruit directly on the trunk and branches. The flesh is sweet, juicy and aromatic with a flavour often compared to grapes, lychees and muscat.
Flowers: Produces masses of small white fluffy flowers directly on the trunk and branches before fruit develops, creating a spectacular display.
Fruiting: Typically begins producing fruit within 5–10 years from seed under good growing conditions, depending on the variety and growing conditions.
